After examining historical works important to the evolution of poster art, students are challenged to create their own poster in a historical style with digital tools. Using Adobe Illustrator, students compose a new design expressing a subject of personal importance while applying the aesthetic conventions of a historic style. This juxtaposition creates complex connections between contemporary and past ideals of beauty, importance of ideas, and the medium of the message.
